Selena Marie Gomez  (n. Grand Prairie, Texas, Estados Unidos; 22 de julio de 1992^]es una actriz de cine y televisión, cantante, filántropa, diseñadora de moda y embajadora de buena voluntad de la UNICEF estadounidense. Su carrera actoral inició a temprana edad, interpretando a Gianna en la serie de televisión Barney & Friendsposteriormente, de 2007 a 2012 interpretó el papel protagónico de la serie original de Disney Channel ganadora del Emmy: Wizards of Waverly Place.
En 2008, firmó un contrato con la discográfica Hollywood Records formando con ella la banda Selena Gomez & The Scene, con la cual ha publicado tres álbumes de estudio: Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) y When the Sun Goes Down (2011),^[8] de los cuales se extraen respectivamente sus éxitosos sencillos «Naturally»,^[9] «A Year Without Rain»,^[10] «Who Says»,^[11] entre otros.
En el 2010 inició su debut cinematográfico protagonizando la película Ramona and Beezus. Al año siguiente, protagonizó Monte Carlo  y realizó un cameo en la película The Muppets. Gomez también ha aparecido en númerosas películas para televisión, como Another Cinderella Story (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), entre otras.
En septiembre de 2009, fue nombrada embajadora de buena voluntad de la UNICEF, convirtiéndose en la artista más joven en asumir dicho cargo. En octubre del mismo año, Selena anunció que tenía planes de lanzar su propia línea de ropa llamada Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez, que fue lanzada a finales de julio del año siguiente con la cadena estadounidense Kmart.
Otra de las ocupaciones de Gomez incluye ser conductora, en 2011 presentó los premios MuchMusic Video, los MTV Video Music Awards^[ y la entrega de galardones europeos MTV Europe Music, realizados en Belfast. En 2011, Gomez ocupo junto a su banda el puesto número treinta y uno en la lista de fin de año de Billboard que señala los artistas que más se destacaron durante el añoPor otro lado, Selena es la tercera persona más buscada en YouTube, siendo superada solo por Britney Spears y Madonna, quienes ocupan el puesto número uno y número dos, respectivamente Además, Selena figura entre las diez celebridades con más seguidores en Twitter, ocupando el puesto número ocho. Para marzo de 2012 Gomez contaba con más de 10 millones de seguidores, superando así a Kim Kardashian y Ashton Kutcher quienes ocupan los lugares nueve y diez, respectivamente.
